Jonathan Scott was born in London in 1949 and has lived in Kenya since 1977. After gaining a degree in Zoology from the Queen’s University of Belfast, Jonathan went on to present a number of television programmes based on East African wildlife, including the globally popular BBC/Animal Planet series Big Cat Diary. One of the BBC’s longest running shows with annual broadcasts since 1996, Big Cat Diary was broadcast live to the UK for a week in 2008. In 2005-07 Jonathan also co-presented Big Bear Diary for the BBC/Animal Planet and two series of Elephant Diaries. He is currently filming a new series for the BBC called Lions: The Truth which will be broadcast in early 2011.

Angela Scott was born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1953 and spent her childhood in Tanzania. Jonathan and Angela married in 1992 and have proved to be a prolific partnership, working together collecting material for their books and traveling around the world as wildlife and travel photographers. Angela is the Production Stills photographer for Big Cat Diary.

Both Jonathan and Angela have been Overall Winner in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition, Jonathan In 1987 and Angela in 2002; they are the only couple ever to individually win this competition, the most prestigious event of its kind. Their multi-award-winning images have appeared in books and magazines around the world, including National Geographic, Geo, Geographical, BBC Wildlife, Digital Photography, Outdoor Photography.

Jonathan and Angela are UK Patrons of the Galapagos Wildlife Trust, and Jonathan is UK Patron of the Rhino Ark, the Cheetah Conservation Fund, and The Simeon Trust, as well as serving for many years on the Editorial Board of the East African Wildlife Society, and the Conservation Board of Friends of Conservation. He is a member of the African Lion Working Group – affiliated to the IUCN Cat Specialist Group.

Between 1997 and 1999 Jonathan and Angela traveled the world presenting wildlife stories for Wild Things, an American television series created by Paramount Productions. This was a unique opportunity for them to hone their photographic skills 'out of Africa'. When they are not filming or working on their book projects, Jonathan and Angela lead small groups of fellow travelers to destinations worldwide, resulting in books inspired by territories as far afield from East Africa as Antarctica.
